Too young to drive?

You don't need a provisional license with Excel School of Motoring to learn to drive a car.

You don't have to wait until you are 17 years old before you can learn to drive a car.  Provided you are aged 14 or over and can reach all the controls you may legally receive driving tuition under the supervision of a DSA approved driving instructor in a off road environment.

We have successfully helped young people from all over Lancashire, with some travelling from Cheshire to take part in our under 17 driving courses.

What's on offer?

First you will need to read a number plate to ensure you eyesight meets the legal requirements.  Then training begins and we aim to teach you how to:

• undertake basic vehicle safety checks
• find a comfortable and safe driving position
• move off and stop safely
• make appropriate use of the gears

Depending on your ability we will progress to:

• turn left and right at junctions
• reversing
• turn in the road
• controlled stop

If you goal is to pass your test soon after your 17th birthday then our goal is to help you acheive it.  Once you have mastered the basics you may choose to attend a more advanced 14+ driver training course speciffically tailored to your ability.

Prices

We want you to learn as much as you can so all training is one to one, just you and the instructor. You may choose to car share and invite a friend, that's up to you. If you book together you'll each receive a £10 reduction.

Once you reach 17 and if you choose to continue your driving tuition with Excel School of Motoring further discounts will apply.

When can you start?

As soon as you turn 14 years of age.

The 14+ driving training course is available for all teenagers who are between 14 and 17 years old.  These are proving to be very popular and young drivers are travelling up to, and sometimes over, an hour to attend.  As the training area is only available at weekends you may need to book early to avoid disappointment.

Nervous individuals have also benefited on this course.  As all driving is done on private land, the driver has time to think about actually driving the vehicle, not worrying about the following traffic.
