Theory Test - two exams, one result!

The DSA hazard perception test and theory multiple choice test are commonly called the theory test.  You must pass both the multiple choice theory test and the hazard perception test in the same visit to the test centre in order to pass the test.

 

Part 1, The Theory Test

This is a computer based exam and you will be allowed to practice is you so wish before the actual test commences.

You will be offered 50 multiple choice questions and some questions will require multiple answers.  You can navigate between questions and have the option to 'flag' questions that you may choose to come back to later in the test.  The pass mark for the multiple choice part of the theory test is 43 out of 50.

 

Part 2, The Hazard Pereption Test

This is also a computer based exam.

You will be presented with a series of 14 video clips which feature every day road scenes.  In each clip there will be at least one developing hazard, but one of the clips will feature two developng hazards.

To achieve a high score you will need to respond to the developing hazard during the early part of its development.  The maximum you can score on each hazard is five marks.  The later your response the lower the score you will be awarded and if you respond too late you will be awarded '0' for that developing hazard.

The pass mark for the car and motorcycle hazard perception part of the theory test is 44 out of 75.
